Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parent(s)
If you are collecting your child at the end of a school day, could we kindly ask that you come to the school yard to accompany your child off the premises. We have recently had several incidents where children have tried to cross Queen Victoria Road to get to their parents’ vehicle, and have very nearly been injured by oncoming traffic. This section of Queen Victoria Road is notoriously hazardous, as I am sure you are aware.
Your child’s safety is incredibly important to us! It might, at times, feel a little inconvenient to leave your car to come over to school – but it truly is for your child’s well-being.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Social media has come a very long way in a few short years. Whilst it is easy to become caught up in all the negative aspects, we must also accept that social media can be used in extraordinarily positive ways.
We recognise that many parents and the school community are using social media which can provide a quick, free and easy way to receive information and complement our other school communications, e.g. website, school newsletters.
Our school is committed to engaging with you as much as we possibly can to share information about the school and to celebrate the achievements and successes of our pupils, and therefore we will be using social media (Twitter) to achieve this.

This charter will be continually reviewed; any changes or amendments will be communicated. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL
We will be holding our Harvest Festival on Monday 26th September 2016. We would be grateful if you could send tinned or dry food, baby food or toiletries into school before this date. All the donations will be distributed to several local charities including the Women’s Refuge.

Wake Up Shake Up – may we please remind you Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 children arriving between 8.45am and 8.50am must come through the Year 1 and 2 yard to take part in our Wake Up Shake Up sessions. MacMillan Coffee Morning – on Friday, 30th September we will be holding an event to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care. We will be selling cakes/biscuits at playtime for 20p. If you would like to donate to this very worthy cause please send 20p with your child for them to purchase a cake/biscuit.
Information Sheets – if you have not yet returned the sheet to school please do so as soon as possible. Please remember to inform school if you change any details (address, phone etc) during the year in order that we can keep our records up to date. If you require any assistance completing the form please ask at the school office.
In Foundation Stage we are starting a project called ‘Forest school’ which your child will take part in every Friday and will involve activities on the school field and in the school garden. Some of the activities that will be planned for Forest school will be:
The aim of Forest school is to build on a child’s motivation and positive attitude to learning, offering them the opportunities to take risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves.
Your child will experience their learning outdoors in a woodland area and learn lots of new skills such as:
During Forest school we will go outside whether it is raining or snowing so your child will need to wear waterproof clothing and wellington boots every time we go outside. During the colder months your child will need to bring a hat, scarf and gloves and during the warmer months they will need a sun hat and sun cream.
Please could you bring into school a waterproof suit and a pair of wellington boots in a carrier bag with their name clearly labelled.
Your child may come home dirty but what they will have learnt that day will be vital to your child’s development. We will try our best to avoid getting dirt on their clothes but this may happen.
The staff in Foundation Stage are looking forward to starting this new project with your children on Friday 16th September.
Please return the slip (below) no later than Thursday 15th September.
