*COVID-19 UPDATES*

COVID-19 SCHOOL INFECTION SURVEY (SIS)

Families that Participated In The First Round of Testing

If your child/ren participated in the first round of the COVID-19 Schools Infection Survey (SIS), we would like to thank you for your support in helping to keep our school open and Covid free.  You should also have received an email around the 12th of April inviting you to complete a short survey on vaccination and mass testing at school. We would greatly appreciate if you could take the time to complete this brief questionnaire which will take less than 5 minutes of your time. The information is important to help the testing organisers interpret your test results, and it will contribute to the COVID-19 control efforts. If you have not received the email, you can also find the survey by logging into the portal https://www.oc-meridian.com/CISSchools using your existing credentials – your username is the email address you registered with. Please  be aware that the next round of testing will take place in school on the 17th & 18th of May.

Families that wish to Participate in the Second Round of Testing

If your child/ren did not participate in the first round of the COVID-19 Schools Infection Survey (SIS), it is not too late to sign up for the second round of testing that will take place in school on the 17th and 18th of May. You can join the survey by clicking on the link below and you will be asked for your school number which is 119261.

Thank you for supporting the Schools Covid-19 Infection Survey; it is very important in helping us monitor the transmission of COVID-19 in schools and could help reduce school closures and further lockdowns.  In the video link below you can see the presentation given by Professor Shamez Ladhani explaining the emerging findings from the previous rounds of the study (this video was taken during a forum with some of the Headteachers involved in the study).

Please note that no child will be tested in school without the consent of their parents/guardians.

WELCOME BACK

We have now been reopened for a few weeks since the Easter holidays and all staff have really enjoyed welcoming back  the children and their families. Please be assured that all staff are continuing to work hard to reduce the risks from Covid-19 as much as we possibly can. We are also regularly reminding the children of how they can play their part by moving sensibly around school, washing their hands frequently and keeping safe within their individual class 'bubbles', in which they are remaining all day.

Please note that school opens at 8.45am for all pupils from Years 1 to 6 and from 8.55am for the

Foundation Stage, although formal teaching does not begin until 9.00am.  Can we also politely remind parents that children must continue to enter school through their own yards.

For safety reasons, we are continuing to have staggered finish times for different year groups:

Foundation Stage, Years 1, 3 and 5 finish school at 2.45pm.

Years 2, 4 and 6 finish school at 3pm (with an extra play time throughout the day).

Please also note, that we are still not able to provide breakfast club or after-school club at the moment, although free toast etc. is available to all children when they come into school.

Can we also politely remind parents to ensure that school always has an up to date phone number, address and email address and that parents inform the office of any changes to these promptly, so that we can get in touch whenever necessary.

FREE ONLINE SESSIONS FOR PARENTS/CARERS AND CHILDREN

We just wanted to share with our families that Lancashire Adult Learning's Family Learning Team is still able to support families during the current lockdown and beyond. In the link below is a poster advertising a range of free, fun family sessions, as well as short courses for parents to brush up on the teaching methods of Y1-6 Maths and English, family wellbeing sessions including family Yoga and some fabulous accredited courses for parents to upskill and gain an accreditation in working in Schools or the Childcare sector.
